Classic Protectant is our emulsified blend of silicones that adds gloss and not only protects but revives faded plastics. Once dry, this product is weather resistant and offers protection and strong gloss enhancement to exterior plastics, tyres, and interior plastics. Classic Protectant is easy to use and was designed to be used neat; however, it can be diluted to lower the glossy finish to suit the individual.

This product is very versatile. It is great for engine bays, tyres, and plastic trim inside and out. It leaves a gloss finish that dust is not attracted to, keeping surfaces cleaner for longer and making future cleans easier. If you want just one product for all surfaces, you can’t go wrong with Classic Protect. Some rubber surfaces will absorb more product, and you might find that tyres require a couple of applications if you are looking for a high-gloss finish.

It is also important to note that this is a water-based solution. As such, it is important to have dry surfaces before application. Unlike oil-based dressings that push water away, this product will just dilute further and affect its finish. Another issue you may encounter is if you are used to using a silicone solvent-based tyre dressing like Maximum Shine Tyre Dressing. Oil-based products will repel water-based products and therefore affect the product’s ability to stick to the surface. It is therefore worth sticking to one or the other depending on the application.

Directions – Tyres and Engine Bay:

  1. Spray a light mist onto tyres/engine bay.

  2. Allow to cure until almost dry.

  3. Smooth and even the product with a foam applicator.

Directions – Exterior Plastic Trim:

  1. Apply a small amount to a foam applicator and work into plastic areas.

  2. Allow to cure until almost dry.

  3. Buff with a clean multi-purpose microfiber cloth to ensure even coverage.

When applying to exterior or interior plastics, it is important to apply to a cloth or sponge, as spraying directly on the plastic surfaces could leave a fine mist over glass and paintwork. It will buff off paintwork easily, but controlled application is best. On glass, it will create smears and potentially cause glass cleaner issues until this weather-proof product is fully removed.

Controlled application is advisable, taking note of the difference between using a sponge applicator like ValetPRO’s Wax Applicator or a microfiber cloth. Sponges are good at absorbing but also very good at releasing products. A sponge is the most economical way of spreading this sort of product, enabling you to apply a thin coat over the surface you’re protecting. A thin coat dries quicker and levels out better, giving an even finish. It is quick to apply multiple layers if needed or wanted. Faded trim might require more product as it starts to absorb what is applied. Keep applying until it stops.

Cloths or microfibers, on the other hand, absorb but are less good at releasing product. This is why they are great for cleaning and drying. If you’re looking for a low sheen or a more natural finish, using a microfiber cloth is a good option, as it gives you more control over the amount of product applied. For example, dashboards may require a more natural finish but still need a protective layer to stop dust from settling while enabling quick future cleans. Once cleaned, you can go straight in with a microfiber and a small amount of Classic Protect to revive and clean the surface—no need for an APC unless the surface is badly soiled.

The Joy of Detailing – With Classic Protect Vinyl, Rubber, and Plastic Dressing

The finishing touches to a detail are very important. Once you have clean surfaces, applying gloss lifts the results and makes a big difference. Because this product is so versatile, it can be used to enhance engine bays, exterior plastic trim, door seals, tyres, and interior plastics. It will also revive faded plastics. It leaves a dry-to-touch finish and does not attract dust like some silicone sprays. It makes future cleans easier because grime finds it hard to stick to the surface.

Easy to buff off if product ends up on paintwork or wheels, water-based dressings leave some of the nicer finishes. This is a product you are sure to love and that will give you the joy and satisfaction of a job well done.
