Dragon’s Breath

Wheels are among the toughest parts of a car to get clean; they spend their lives in a harsh environment and due to their proximity to the ground they’re bombarded with hot iron dust, tar, grease, salts and a variety of other road grimes. Which is where Dragon’s Breath comes in.

Wheels are among the toughest parts of a car to get clean; they spend their lives in a harsh environment and due to their proximity to the ground they’re bombarded with hot iron dust, tar, grease, salts and a variety of other road grimes. For this reason they can often become encrusted with dirts that can be difficult to shift without the appropriate cleaning power.

Good wheel cleaning products should loosen the baked-on grime to the point that it can simply be blasted off with a pressure washer. At this point, if you’re tackling particularly heavily soiled wheels, you may want to re-apply the cleaner and agitate them with a safe wheel brush. In the past, most of these alloy wheel cleaners were acid-based which made them unsuitable for some wheel surfaces, especially unpainted or lacquered ones, because over time it corrodes and causes damage to the surfaces. More recently, most wheel cleaners have been developed to be alkaline based or, better yet, pH balanced to counter these issues.

Which is where Dragon’s Breath comes in. This is one of our favourite products from our range because we designed it so specifically. As always, we aimed to make it accessible to everyone, regardless of experience, which is why we wanted Dragon’s Breath to be pH neutral; it’s safe for all surfaces and therefore anyone can use it without fear or damage, from the novice to the professional detailer. Due to it’s harmless formulation, it can also be used on bodywork to draw out contamination before moving on to the clay bar stage.

Dragon’s Breath is gel based, which has multiple benefits; firstly, it means that the product clings to the surface significantly longer, extending contact time and therefore enhancing the cleaning power whilst requiring less product to achieve the same results as a thinner formulation. It’s gel formula also makes it user-friendly by eliminating breathable spray so you can safely use this product without inhaling harmful fumes that are so often present with similar products. Lastly, we prefer using a gel base because it prevents overspill and allows for a more directional and controlled spray, giving you more control over the application.

Now, anyone who’s used Dragon’s Breath could tell you how much it smells (hence the name) -this is an unfortunate side effect of its most impressive characteristic: this clear gel changes colour and bleeds red as it works to convert iron contaminate into a water soluble solution. The more contamination on your wheels, the more drastic the transformation. This visual aid has proved incredibly popular amongst our customers and makes for stunning social media content.
